The Lookout

This installment of the Weekly Download puts the spotlight on The Lookout by SoundCloud on SiriusXM, curated and hosted by hip-hop DJ Gabe C. The Lookout extends SoundCloud’s playlists into a weekly radio show, elevating Hip-Hop Nation’s mission of discovering the next generation of hip-hop tastemakers.

Mentored by his older brother, Gabe C was raised in Carson, California on a diet of hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B. After starting out in the 2000s when he was only a teenager, DJing at backyard parties and club residencies, he’s become a core voice in the west coast hip-hop scene, from radio and DJing for rapper Blxst to keeping an ear to the streets.

After introducing The Lookout in our recent playlisting of Hip-Hop Essentials, which focuses on the next generation of hip-hop artists who are poised to achieve greatness and refigure the hip-hop template, this week’s installment goes straight to the source: The Lookout’s own central hub, featuring the latest rap voices and producers. Dive into this collection of today’s must-hear rap tracks — featuring slayr, Sleepy Hallow, Judah Weston, PIXY and more — and discover the latest talent from across the hip-hop spectrum.
