On this episode of Sound Advice, our guests are me n ü: a twin sister duo making nostalgic and euphoric house music. In this exclusive interview, the pair talks to us about what it’s like to work and travel with your twin, and how they segued out of a career making music for TV into the fast-moving world of DJing and dance music production. 

We talk about their journey from releasing edits and mash ups to their first original track, “JUMP,” which came out in 2024. We also learn about how SoundCloud has been central to their success: helping them get their music out quickly, showcase their sound, link with other producers and remixers, and grow their fanbase along the way. 

me n ü explain their approach to building DJs sets for huge festivals, and the production rules that help them focus and get tracks finished in the studio. Introducing me n ü, the Twin Sister Dance Music Duo On The Rise

• We begin the conversation with me n ü reflecting on their summer 2026 highlights: from playing major dance music festivals like Tomorrowland and Ultra Miami to opening for rapper Kid Cudi on his headline North American tour. At these shows, they played new material, like their May 2026 track “YOUR EYES.” 
• Here, they talk about how they like to prepare their sets ahead of massive festival performances, how they adapt their setlist choices to the different crowds they play to and how they make a set feel special every time.
• “We really wanted to give people a really authentic taste of what we do: our music, our production styles, our particular types of transitions,” they say. “This summer, we made it a goal that we were going to produce a lot of custom edits — to the point where 80 to 90 percent of it should just be stuff we've edited or released ourselves.”

How me n ü’s Broad Tastes and Musical Training Inform Their Sound

• me n ü came up as a dance duo on SoundCloud, and they often post their DJ sets on their profile. Here, they talk about why they feel it’s important to share those live recordings online, and how it makes their fanbase feel more connected to them.
• “Our entire approach online is letting as many people as possible experience the moment with us, even if they're not physically there,” they say. “That’s what’s so fantastic about SoundCloud — we’re able to put the set up as is, and let people listen.”
• Although they’re working as dance DJ/producers, in their self-styled “hope house” sound, me n ü have a broad spectrum of tastes and influences — including indie and Americana — and are trained in classical jazz and piano. Here, they go into more detail about how live instrumentation, songwriting, and their focus on strong harmonies and melodies influence their electronic sound.

me n ü on Pivoting From TV Music Sync to Original Dance Music Productions 

• House music is the latest evolution of the me n ü sound. Going back to the pandemic lockdown era, when the sisters were making music in their bedrooms, they share how they got their start in electronic music production through making tracks for placements on TV. 
• Here, they go into more detail about how they started on that journey, the lessons they learned, the successes they had, how it all inspired them to move into a new lane, and what initially drew them to making house music tracks — like their first original track together, 2024’s “JUMP.”
• Before “JUMP” was released, me n ü tested out their dance production skills by making edits of dance, pop and rap tracks by artists like Kendrick Lamar and Fisher, and uploading them to SoundCloud for feedback and outreach. 
• Here, they talk about what they learned from that period, and how it encouraged them to keep making music. “The first thing to do is just to really get started and just stay consistent with it,” they say, giving advice to fellow young producers. “Because something can’t blow up if it doesn’t exist.” 
• On SoundCloud, through track comments, reposts and DMs from listeners, they got a better sense of which tracks were becoming popular. This proved especially helpful when they were finding their own sound. “SoundCloud is a great way to gauge what people think. If we post a little clip on SoundCloud and people are like, ‘Yeah, I love that,’ — great, here’s more!” They continue. “We don’t try to hinder ourselves with our opinions.”

me n ü’s Latest Tracks, and Using SoundCloud to Grow Their Audience and Career

• As they developed from making edits to making their own tracks, me n ü came up with a system called “the core four”: the four necessary elements in a track to make it quality and memorable. Here, they go into more detail about that thinking, what those “core four” elements are, and how they fold them into their production process. They also discuss the tools they like to use in the studio, and how their aforementioned career in producing music for TV sync made them better producers. 
• me n ü have called their sound “hope house,” which is a style that blends euphoria and melancholy in the songwriting. Here, they talk about this blend, why they focus on it and how they see it as having evolved over the past few years. 
• A recent track that taps into that energy is 2026’s “SWEET LOVIN” which has become a fan favorite on SoundCloud. Here, they go into more detail about the making of the track, and how the reaction to it online inspired them to connect with their SoundCloud community for a special remix, dubbed the “Sunset Edition.” 
• After making those deeper connections on the platform, me n ü have continued to make SoundCloud a core part of their creative process and career presentation. Across playlists, remixes and more, they talk about how they use the platform to showcase their tracks, connect with fans and artists, and catalog their works in progress. “SoundCloud's built for that creativity,” they say. “It lets creatives be creative without worrying about everything.”

The Twin Bond’s Influence on Their Creativity, and The Lessons They’ve Learned

• As they’ve grown as performers, me n ü have grown not just as artists — in the studio, on the stage — but as siblings. As twins, their bond has only grown stronger through their creative partnership. Talking about this more, they share how their relationship has evolved, how their closeness informs how they communicate in their music-making processes and how they’re grateful to have each other to navigate the music industry with.
• Their breakthrough track, “JUMP” came out in 2024 — so in only two years, they’ve grown their career to a place where they can reflect on lessons learned and enjoy the fruits of their hard work. So what advice do they have to share with their peers, with young, up-and-coming artists, looking to make their breakthrough moment? 
• Here, they talk about being honest about your journey with your audience — because authenticity is key — and how they’d “rather be really good at what we do than mediocre at what somebody else does.” More broadly, they also talk about staying truthful and kind to all your peers and industry players, and knowing when to say yes or no to the opportunities that come your way.
