We had a feeling that Justice Tripp of Angel Du$t and Trapped Under Ice would know the best song for spin kicking in the pit, and we were not wrong. The singer, who just released a great new album with Angel Du$t, gave us an eclectic list of Best Songs that both proves his unimpeachable hardcore bona fides and shows off his range as a music lover. Anybody that puts both “Firestorm” by Earth Crisis and “The Rockafeller Skank” by Fatboy Slim on the same list is good in our book. Read his picks, and listen to COLD 2 THE TOUCH, below.
Best song for spin kicking in the pit?
“Master Killer” by Merauder
Builds you to the point of having no choice but to spinkick multiple times in one song.
Best song for driving around Los Angeles at night?
“Straight Ahead" by Greg Sage
Best song that has a chorus you have a hard time getting out of your head?
“The Rockafeller Skank” by Fatboy Slim
Will have you hooked for days.
Best song by a Baltimore hardcore band?
“Block Watch” by Stout
Is the truest definition of Baltimore hardcore in my expert opinion.
Best song that you love but you never want to listen to again?
“Firestorm” by Earth Crisis
Any songs I love I want to hear again and again until I die, but if you lived through hardcore in the early 2000s you know why “Firestorm” by Earth Crisis is best rationed.
Best song that you heard in 2025?
“Gulls Way" by Civic
Best song that you’ve heard so far this year?
It’s January. I don’t think a new song has come out yet this year.
Best song to listen to in the gym?
“Bottom” by TOOL
Nothing gets you more jacked in the gym than the Henry Rollins spoken word bridge on the TOOL track “Bottom.” NOTHING. He’s literally talking about lifting weights butt naked in the shadows for years, waiting to kill somebody.
Best song to listen to at the bar?
“Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison
My favorite song to hear with people in public. A few times I’ve heard “Never Scared” by Bone Crusher in the bar and that got me hyped for sure.
Best song that reminds you of being a teenager?
“Cold World” by Cold World
Keeps me young and strong.
