C'est tellement mystérieux, le pays des larmes (for 2 oboes, tuba and piano) [2016] by Juro Kim Feliz published on 2016-06-20T05:10:08Z IT IS SUCH A SECRET PLACE, THE LAND OF TEARS. Composed 2016 Juro Kim Feliz title from "Le Petit Prince" (The Little Prince) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. text from Jeremiah 7:29a (Tagalog version: Magandang Balita Biblia). premiere at Montréal, Quebec [2016] performers: Carly Gordon (oboe) Julia Gjebic (oboe) Michael Mansourati (tuba) Darren Creech (piano) N.B. This piece employs physical spatialization, with one oboe located behind the audience and the rest of the ensemble onstage (with the onstage oboe located within some distance from the piano and the tuba). Given that there wasn't any detailed technical plan to capture how the piece sounded in the room, there was a problem with the balancing of the instruments in the recording. The piano can barely be heard, its resonance is missing (especially with the piano harmonics and its interaction with the tuba), and the onstage oboe sounding too distant as well. I'm looking forward to properly record this piece sometime in the future. /jkf/ Genre Contemporary Comment by Leo Lobrev Congratulations on the "5 minute piano concerto competition" and good luck with its premiere! :) 2016-10-23T19:10:29Z
