Resonance occurs when two or more bodies
exert a periodic influence on one another.
The resonance rituals we performed in secret
involved a great deal of narcotics and space flight.
Once begun, such a ritual had to be finished.

Of course space flight itself could and did help our functioning.
The collective biological machine in which we traveled
became a different apparatus.
The new resonances of our physical orbits were an interesting feature of this newly changed system.

Messages from home attempted to convince us
that space flight would only lead us half way,
that it would give us only a first look at the cosmic composition.
It would not allow us to complete the voyage.

But no other resonance system had shown such a distinct architecture.
One of the divides was whether or not we perceived these warning messages
existing without a hidden cause.
We called this the question of the First Cause, the First Water
the first Stardust Emanation.

What we perceived among ourselves
was an upward spiral of mutual reciprocal initiation.
Once this process had begun there was no stopping it.
We now saw rain and stardust as exactly the same thing.

The development of a special computer algorithm
enabled our team to detect
that the process had no end,
not a stop, not an escape.
There could be no escape.

We tried to determine if our brain waves were in coherence.
Suffering emerged from the space flight energy distortion in our functioning.
The signals sought in the data were not strictly periodic,
but showed strong variations in the orbital periods.
Some of us began to perceive life as meaningless.
Disturbances of this kind had been noted previously.

Our tears, our sweat, our blood, our stardust.
We put it all into the process
and refused to look back.

We had to accept that
such disturbances would be unending
in this eternal process of discovery and revelations.
The ritual would not stop,
the ritual would never be finished.
