An Alternative Hypothesis by Prospero2013 published on 2015-01-09T01:11:25Z There was of course an alternative hypothesis. There was never a higher consciousness. In whatever way and in whatever quantity the substance was poured it would always solidify into solid dead matter dancing in random patterns and forming the vast structure which we had come to know as the world. There was nothing special in the simple basic ingredients or the very complex structure which they formed. All of creation was random musical variations on a simple chaotic structure. Formed out of nothing leading to nothing. In time this epistemological position would become universally objective (for me.) Since all perception of meaning was necessarily an illusion psychosis was necessarily as equally valid a state as clear waking consciousness. There was no clear objective basis for any subjectivity. Even if we perceived that the substance had answered our questions the questions themselves had no objective basis to begin with. Regardless of what we remembered there was never any contact with strange entities or beings. These beings were projections just like everything else we had ever perceived. A hypothesis is only an educated guess. I was able to break the riddle. I was able to see the form. I was able to question the beings. On these positive subjective assertions, I cannot base any knowledge, only an alternative hypothesis that dances randomly through space as part of the substance of which I am made of. As an effect of repeated interactions I came to understand the subjectivity of my claims to knowledge. And yet I still feel the hunger. Even if I no longer believe it can possibly exist.
