Joti Brar, Chair of the CPGB-ML speaks at the founding conference of the British Chapter of the Antifascist International, on the session focusing on Imperialism and War.

Joti draws attention to the heightened war drive of the imperialists that is pushing us towards World War 3.

This is not a policy choice - it is a result of the economic crisis of overproduction of global finance capitalism. This is a systemic crisis from which the ruling capitalist class has no way out - and no answer but war, death and destruction. They are prepared to sacrifice hundreds of millions of workers to keep their grip of financial slavery upon the world. They are the greatest threat to humanity that we face.

That is why there is “no reverse gear” on the part of the British and American NATO warmongers, whether in Latin America, Venezuela and Cuba, their support of fascism in Ukraine and the drive toward deepening the conflict with Russia, in the Western, Central and Eat African states, in Congo and Sudan, in Palestine and the Middle East, or in Taiwan and Korea and their drive toward conflict with China.

We are right to support the Axis of resistance. We are right to call to “Globalise the Intifada” against Zionism, Banderite Fascism, neoliberal stooge regimes and Imperialism.

But we must recognise that what is lacking most is the fight on the home front. There Labour Party, a party of imperialism, has tired the working class in servitude and polices the “official” anti war movement, the “official” palestine solidarity movement and the “official” anti austerity movement and trade union movements. In this way workers are kept powerless and imperialism is left free to continue perpetrating its wars and genocides across the globe - to the detriment of British workers also, who are being prepared to be the foot soldiers of our ruling class enemies, to preserve and entrench our own wage-slavery.

We must build the Antifascist International to step into the breach: to teach the British Working class once more to appreciate and use its power in its own interests and those of the workers of all countries.
