Shooting Stars / Machine Dreams Clementine followed Athena up the many flights of dusty stairs to the building's roof. It was now much darker than dusk and Athena had spread a blanket for them to lie on as they looked up and observed the sky together. Clementine tried to stay attentive as Athena pointed out the distant constellations while occasional groups of meteors would streak through the inky sky above them. Despite her best efforts to stay awake, she enters a sleep state where she finds herself reveling in strange but beautiful dreams.

Little Clementine’s dreams fill our human ears with two-part vox over Yamaha DX-7 bliss backed by strings, arpeggiators, and, eventually, some kit. The DX-7 brings Super Mario 64’s water level, while the vocals evoke Final Fantasy X (for me). We hear an inky string sky illuminated by shimmering nine-chord constellations, streaks of meteoric synth that flash in little starbursts. Overall, a pleasant dream sequence to drift off to on a blanket as we learn a little bit more about our android heroines' life after the Change.
