Gordon Snee Art Gordon Snee Art Gordon Snee painted between the years of 1950 and 2010. His work ranges from kitchen sink realism in the 1950’s, through many styles of abstraction, to his mature work, beginning in the late 1970’s. Snee’s passion for the works of the pioneers of abstract art such Picasso, Miro, Kandinsky, Klee and Wyndham Lewis fuelled his drive to learn and draw from captivating styles such as cubism, vorticism, and constructivism. As a result of this, Snee developed his own unique and inspiring synthesis giving birth to a new and rarely found language of abstraction, making him a poineer in his field. Those who have been lucky enough to see the works cannot deny that as a master of form and colour, Gordon Snee is arguably one of the most striking post-war British abstract painters. Following the artists death in early 2013, family members are working to finally move the works into the public sphere for all to enjoy... These recordings are of the artist's daughter Jo Edmondson (who sometimes calls herself Snee) discussing some of the stories behind the artist's life and work.
