Goognostic MC | aka DJ Zippy, Ching & VJ Pi_Rate BrizVegas I started spinning vinyl in the mid-70's at family BBQ's, mashing rock into disco. I began DJ'ing & audio production at 4-ZZZ FM in 1989, inspired by avant-garde and industrial electronica. I was one of Many Anonymous DJ's before adopting the Zen inspired moniker Zippy (yes, it was the mid-90's.) Performed at clubs, warehouses and the great outdoors for several years. Many highlights, peaking at a collaboration with Terence McKenna for his spoken work performance @ The Zoo on the country of Turrbal & Jagera people (Brisbane) in '97. Always has been, always will be - Aboriginal land. I released my first track on 1999 Dragonflight NYE CD compilation - Aurax was created with Reason on a 586, mastered at Soundhive Studios (thanks Ande.) Produced and performed as Ching before making the switch from soundwaves to photons. Many thanks to Trans:Com for inviting me to be a part of BNE project, first released in 2014 to mark their 20th and commemorate 35 years of Brisbane-based independent electronic music performance and production. AudioVisual fusion entity VJ Pi_Rate has been incarnated since circa 2000. Video Jamming & AV Mash performance are the ongoing focus, following a decade of visual performance along side many international artists. Honoured to have worked with icons such as Grand Master Flash, DJ Q-Bert and A Guy Called Gerald. Peak event production? Installation and operation of a 3 screen / 3 feed video creation focused for The Amorphous Androgynous live performance at Earthcore QLD in 2005- working with Gaz Cobain of Stakker Humanoid and Future Sound of London fame, a massive Life goal kicked! Truth is stranger than fiction. Once, Ollie Olsen explained how his Nordic heritage manifests just before he takes stage and how it was exponentially related to the significance of the performance. This was in a mini-van just before he commenced his set at Toonumbar. I am unsure as to the extent that the crystal grid beneath the quadraphonic installation as impacted, but I can attest to the presence of mighty Thor! I felt a lightening strike draw through me before striking only metres away... holding a door to the Blue Bus with Raze & the Tsunami Devil.
