Fishermans Alphabet by Goldry Bluszco published on 2017-10-03T19:28:41Z This is my Great Grandfather, Walter Barnes reciting the Fisherman's Alphabet in 1943 for the BBC. This is the Brixham dialect, which differs from other Devon dialects. Even local people would have difficulty understanding some of this today. Born in 1875 he worked Sailing Trawlers out of Brixham and in later life made many broadcasts for BBC Radio, including a radio play of his life story broadcast in 1938.
