GOLDEN BLACK- INSPIRATION MEETS ASPIRATION
With their brand new “new age" genre : A mixture of all genres of music; this German-Japanese/American-Panamanian duo is one of the most aspiring pairs of today's music industry. Tot and Ricky´s multicultural background gave the group A very eclectic insight in all aspects of life, may it be political, or artistically. Breaking with conventions is a everyday aspect of the duo. Golden Black cant help but stay true to themselves, often sticking out of the norm, whether it be fashion, music or life itself. They are just as influenced by bands like Queen, Evanescence, and artist like David Bowie, and Nina Simone as they are by electronic or hip hop acts such as daft punk or Kanye West
They both worked on solo projects before meeting.
Tot began to explore the arts at a very early age. Writing songs and poems in her youth. Later she attended North springs High school of Performing arts and science in Atlanta Georgia where she studied dance, and learned to play the violin. During her attendance at Clark Atlanta University, and later Ga State university, she began making beats, and recorded her EP “ The Glittermachine” .While in Atlanta she would perform small gigs, often collaborating with other up- and -coming artist, and appearing on mix tapes. After moving back to Germany, her place of birth, she finally released "The Glitter Machine " in 2011, the same year she meet Ricky.
Ricky came across music at the age of 12. He started out writing his first songs in German but eventually switched to English later on. In 1998 he signed to an indie record company in Nürnberg where he was involved in a project called “Da Genetix”. He left the label one year later due to internal conflicts.In 1999 he was in the group DNA SQUAD, which he released one album .The group parted ways and he found himself being a solo artist once again. In 2011 after several guest appearances at radio stations like radio energy Nürnberg, jams and participations in contests like musicnation, he released his EP ” Bastard Chronicles” the very same year he meet Tot.

Ricky and Tot met in a club in Bamberg in 2011 and formed Golden Black in 2012.They got married the same year and decided to fuse their musical energy together and create their own genre of music! Since then, they performed shows. in clubs around Germany, and attended as guests at different radio stations like radio z in Nürnberg,where they had the opportunity to appear in the ”Lokale Leidenschaften 2” compilation CD in 2012. In the meantime they worked on their debut album which will be released at the end of 2014 or the early beginning of 2015.
