After WWII in the US with the passage of Taft-Hartley, unions were made to kick out socialists and communists, the ones who built the unions in the 30's. Them the AFL-CIO got compromised by the CIA and the whole Red Scare push further fractured and destroyed any real radical Left movement over the next 30 years, it operating pseudo Left magazines in Europe and post modernist thought. It is a religious issue. In the West, the religion of Capitialism has replaced the decaying supernatural religion of Christianity (and other brands).
