New Pence, Old Promises by Godvliet Records published on 2026-09-07T03:24:27Z The coins have changed. There is still somebody waiting at the counter. New Pence, Old Promises follows a Liverpool shopping street in 1971: new money on a Monday, a first wage packet, a possible home across the river and a familiar shop closing its door. Eight connected songs find affection, pride, pleasure and unfinished business in ordinary exchanges. Jangling guitars, melodic bass and close harmonies carry a changing neighbourhood through its day. Composed by Judi Godvliet.
