“Daysahead revives the spirit of the golden era of the 70's & 80's…an air-tight band and a bewitching front woman.” (Michael Heyliger, RhythmFlow)
Steve and Kim Wright have been creating music together for 15 years, and this husband & wife duo share a beautifully harmonious connection both on and off the stage. After the formation of their original full band, DaysAhead, Steve and Kim released their debut cd (Turning Point) as well as ep (Misssing You) to great reviews, national and international radio play and touring, and award nominations including Best Duo/Group of the Year by SoulTracks Readers' Choice Awards, and Best Band & Best Album of the Year by RockWired Awards. Jazz-not-Jazz’s Rob Young wrote that “DaysAhead’s own blend of soul, funk and rock is a welcome breath of fresh air...a distinctive sound that’s left field from the soul mainstream in a refreshing way”.
Steve & Kim’s musical style is an eclectic soul/rock/jazz experimental gumbo that has been labeled as “ear-bending, pulse-moving, romantically sentimental, socially conscience and provoking” with African-American rhythms and improvisations blended with European harmonies and styling. The texture, imagination and powerfully soaring riffs of Virginia-born guitarist/composer/songwriter/producer Steve Wright married with vocalist/ songwriter/lyricist Kim Wright’s smokey and powerfully ripping Louisiana drenched vocals are exciting to hear and captivating to watch as the two weave in and out of multiple genres with one cohesive voice.
Steve & Kim have co-billed and/or performed with illustrious artists such as The Brand New Heavies, Al Green, Chaka Khan, Fertile Ground, Gnarles Barkley, Lalah Hathaway, Fourplay, Rachelle Farrell, George Duke and many more throughout the USA, Europe, UK, and Zimbabwe. The duo has also produced music for commercials and consistently perform corporate and private events, festivals, arts concerts, theaters, and clubs including the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Mobile Bay Fest, Capital Jazz Fest, New York Harborfest, the Velvet Note, and 606 Club London. Having earned their respective Masters of Music Performance degrees from the University of West London, London College of Music, both Steve and Kim also work as music teachers, guest clinicians and workshop tutors for music showcases, festivals, colleges, and community music schools. DaysAhead has also been featured live on broadcast networks including ZBC Zimbabwe TV, BET Jazz Soul Sessions, CBS Better Mornings, and TBS Storyline Soundstage.
Steve and Kim are excited to share with you their special arrangements of classic covers as well as original music suitable for your event.
The duo’s music catalogue and videos are accessible through multiple media platforms including their full band’s official website, www.daysaheadmusic.com.
"DaysAhead is a band that has truly developed their own sound that sets them apart from the rest of the new/neo/nu soul movement. What may sound odd at first is that they hardly use any keys on their debut album Turning Point. Instead they rely on the strength of guitar (acoustic and electric), bass and drums and of course on the impressive voice of Kim Leachman-Wright. And it’s this combination of musical instruments and DaysAhead’s own blend of soul, funk and rock that is a welcome breath of fresh air in today’s music scene. Altogether Turning Point is a very good debut album from a band with a distinctive sound that’s left field from the soul mainstream in a refreshing way." (Dirk Binsau, Jazz-not-Jazz)
