Contemporary Kenyan artworks, for some time the interest of the niche collector, arrived onto the international art scene with a bang this week, courtesy of a charity sale at leading London auction house Bonhams. Monday night’s sale of works from eight contemporary artists in Kenya raised more than £20,000 for arts education initiatives in the country, while attracting a wide range of collectors keen to acquire pieces from the region.
