An Open Letter to UNDERTALE [Happy 6th Anniversary!] by Zeroh

Sorry I didn't have anything big today, undertale is getting more and more difficult to do.

6 years, huh? man, what a ride.

UNDERTALE may be one of my favourite games of all time; it's beautifully written characters still impact me, and have helped to shape the person I am even to this very day, and it's created a path I never thought I'd walk down: Music.

Music, what a weird one for me - to think I'd aspire to become a huge musician all because of some dumb little video game soundtrack, and you all know exactly which song specifically. It all started with wanting to make my own custom megalo; somewhere around 2016 I think? and my journey began, a long one at that.

Now we're in 2021, things have changed DRAMATICALLY - I became a prominent figure in the Undertale Soundcloud Community, a place I used to call home, a place I met many of my best online friends, some I consider family. In my mind, I had reached the top, people considered my music to be...good? I've never truly wrapped my head around it.
I've befriended everyone I ever looked up to in the community - Saster, Brandon, Paul, you name it, and I realised one critical thing that I think is lost in such a large community.

We're all just people, people making shit that we love that others love too, we aren't gods - or machines, yet people treat us like content factories and not for who we are. This is not exclusive to the UTSC either.

yeah yeah blah blah blah the utsc is dying and it hurts me on an extremely deep level, and the fnf music scene is very similar to the undertale one in a way, but this isn't about that.

Thank you Toby Fox, you've created a game that will go down in legend as one of the greatest of all time, something I'm glad I was born in this era to experience.

And thank you, yes, you; the person who listens to the garbage I make - you've helped me along the way and I hope what I bring to you in the future will make you proud of me.
