Room to Create Artists Series - Ayman Kaake by Yarra City Arts Podcasts published on 2021-07-20T09:06:49Z For the best listening experience, it is recommended to use headphones. You are listening to a Yarra City Arts Podcast, part of the Room to Create Artists series. Throughout this series we will be speaking with resident artists from the Room to Create Studio in Collingwood Yards. The Room to Create Program aims to keep the arts in Yarra by supporting eligible artists and arts organisations and fostering more affordable and sustainable creative spaces. The pressure of increased land prices and the diminishing availability of affordable warehouse-style spaces has forced many creative people out of Yarra, particularly young and emerging artists. In this podcast, we visit Aymaan Kaake in their studio and speak with them about their processes of bringing their dreams to reality through drawing, walking, and diy approaches to the process of producing cinematic self portrait photography. That dreams are ideas that have not been awakened yet, producing work relating to their connection to family far away and representation of feelings of isolation and loneliness. The moment between reality and dreaming… Along with their experience so far with the shared studio space facilitated by Yarra Councils' room to create program.
