Gm2 drum demo with "Synth Drums 1" factory bank by Xhip published on 2017-09-08T11:19:11Z Xhip synthesizer being used in "drum mode" multi-timbral mode as a MIDI drum machine with the "Synth Drums 1" factory bank. A very quick (<1 hour) attempt at producing rough patterns to demo every GM2 drum sound. Uses 2 voices of unison with 50% width and no detuning. Voice recycling is enabled to allow the same sound to cancel itself out since muting groups aren't yet a Xhip feature. (Mute/interference groups, key mapping, layering are somewhat advanced multi-timbral features.) Without recycling the free-running oscillators and modulator phase allow for some nice variation in the sounds as well as better velocity handling and elimination of clicks where the attack portion of the envelope is skipped; with the consequence that any sounds that need to cancel each other out (hi-hats, ...) should be played back with a separate instance in monophonic mode. I didn't go to the trouble of setting up individual instances or doing any layering to improve the sounds as I feel it wouldn't accurately represent a "raw" Xhip timbre.
