Reproductive Rights with Joan Adler and Cayenne Cave Sept 11_4upload by WRFIhumanrightsshow published on 2026-09-05T20:26:04Z We talk about the upcoming Reproductive Rights Film Festival, which is the only one of its kind in New York. Two online events are scheduled for September 8 and 10, 2026 and the films, which are free and open to the public will be shown from September 15 to 19, 2026. They are followed by a discussion and Q&A. Joan Adler, who is a member of the organization End Abortion Stigma, reviews the latest state laws that have been introduced or passed around the country since the 2022 Dobbs Supreme Court Decision that stripped Roe v. Wade. Since then many states have enacted near full bans on accessing abortions, for example by criminalizing the mailing of abortion pills, or prosecuting people who aid women. This can include medical staff at a facility, or a friend transporting someone to a clinic. On numerous occasions women who needed to terminate a non-viable pregnancy were refused the procedure until they were near death. At least one woman died from sepsis as a result of these refusals. Cayenne Cave, who graduated from the Documentary Film Studies program at Ithaca College, gives an overview of the films that will be screened.
