Ted McGraw points out that Grogan, from Mullingar in Co. Westmeath, was one of the few B/C players of the time. The Cliff hornpipe is known by a number of other names (Higgins', The Ruby, and The Standard to name a few). It was recorded by John J. Kimmel in 1909 and Michael Coleman in 1921.
