I was a 7-year-old resident of Los Angeles when Adam 12 first went on the air, and a couple of things I remember from my childhood are seeing my friend's house in the background of a long shot of the cruiser (they used to shoot all over the city), and an LAPD officer visiting my 4th grade classroom as community outreach. One of the officer's claims to fame was that a case he had been involved with had been made into an Adam-12 episode, and we were completely in awe. Just having a real-life LAPD officer in the room giving a presentation was cool enough, but one whose day on the job had been depicted on one of our favorite TV shows?
