Listen Up! by Listen Up! published on 2021-11-13T21:37:57Z Listen Up! is a Trans and Gender Diverse Community driven Family & Domestic Violence Prevention Project. Recorded in the Bundjalung Nation Northern NSW aimed at LGBTIQAP+ regional and remote communities as well as service providers working in this space. This podcast is one of several violence prevention projects steered by people identifying as men throughout the Northern Rivers, NSW. This particular project is focused on rigid gender-stereotypes and gender-roles being one of the main four drivers for gendered violence and in particular violence against women. This is according to the National framework from 'Our Watch'. 'Listen Up' has been directly informed by, driven and curated from within the local Northern Rivers LGBTIQ+ community. It's focus has been to explore and challenge this driver through centering and amplifying the voices and experiences of gender diverse and first nations folks, who are too often missing from the current conversation about gendered violence. The podcast invites four inspiring gender diverse folks, whose experiences span 8 decades, to share their intriguing and powerful stories about how rigid gender roles and binaries have shaped their lives, through the lens of domestic and family violence and discrimination. This project has been a collaboration with the Men and Family Centre Lismore and Tweed Heads' ARC Gender Relations Project, which is funded by the Women NSW Innovation Fund, with extra funding provided by the Regional NSW LGBTIQ+ DFV Interagency. Hosted by Dylan (he/they). Recorded in 2021 on Indigenous land in the Bundjalung Nation. Always was always will be. Progress pride flag designed by Daniel Quasar.
