Candidate Forum- County Superintendent of Schools; May 31, 2022 by Newsmakers with Jerry Roberts

In the first and only election forum of the campaign for County Superintendent of Schools, incumbent Susan Salcido and challenger Christy Lozano clashed over Covid school shutdowns, Critical Race Theory and who should provide mental health services for students suffering emotional and developmental issues stemming from the pandemic. Nearly 300 people tuned into the Zoom event, co-moderated by Newsmakers’ Jerry Roberts and community activist Lanny Ebenstein, co-sponsored by two nonprofits, the Santa Barbara County Taxpayers Association and The Resource Santa Barbara.
