Mike Moore a.k.a. "mike by name" is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, writer, and producer from the small town of East Kingston, NH known for his heavy rock n’ roll outfit Fire in the Field’s long career touring and releasing music every year since 2014. His band garnered multiple New England Music Award and Boston Music Award nominations as well as song placements in nationally syndicated television shows.
Mike is now based in NYC having graduated from BerkleeNYC within the legendary Power Station Recording Studio with a master's in Songwriting & Production.
MIKE BY NAME has been described as having “bluesman swagger and a punk heart.” He channels Hendrix via Prince with the ability to turn on a dime from falsetto pleading to a bluesy wailing through his vocal grit or Les Paul guitar, aptly named “Mortimer.”

All songs are written, produced, performed, and arranged by Mike Moore on The Vibe Operator (coming 2023), The Holy Egg (2022) as well as his previous two albums, Social Murder Meditation (2019), and Funky Blood (2018).
The first single coming Feb. 10th, 2023 of Mike Moore’s a.k.a. MIKE BY NAME’s fourteen song sci-fi rock opera is “I’ve Got To Be The One”, a dancy profession of eternal commitment to his one true love. New ground for MIKE BY NAME, the song features no heavy riffs or wailing lead guitar and is sonically inspired by artists like The Glass Animals and Daft Punk. “I’ve Got To Be The One” remains a tight indie pop package to dance with your valentine to. Written, performed, produced, and recorded by MIKE BY NAME, the song is simply about being proud to surrender to love. As stories books say, surrendering makes one’s life light to the touch and deep in passion. And in a society hell bent on making you miserable, it should be a celebration every time a member sidesteps existential dread for true partnership. It’s time to boogie on in the dream.
