2nd Symphony 1st Movt. Brno Filharmonie by Scotchmer

My second symphony ‘Testimony’ was written immediately after the performance of my first symphony in November 2015. Despite some of its programmatic content, the 2nd symphony is, overall, a sunnier work than the 1st, but no less thoughtful. The first movement opens with a ‘motto theme’ which returns with considerable impact in the coda of the last movement. Despite the variety of moods and textures, the remainder of the movement is constructed around a four note melodic shape that binds the structure together. The darker mood of the closing bars prepares one for the second movement.
