The Uberfication Of the University - With Gary Hall by a place like the present published on 2021-08-30T20:50:49Z A Place Like the Present speaks to Gary Hall about his book - The Uberfication of the University - five years since its publication. Our conversation takes concepts discussed in the book, namely platform capitalism, affirmative disruption, and the artrepreneur, and reads them through the situation presently faced by arts education. We also discuss, looking past Covid-19, how the university as an entity as well as a group of interconnected people, might evolve. We address Creative Commons, open access and how these can aid those in pursuit of progressive education, whether as teachers or students, or both. We also ask how we as artists might disrupt a model that rewards us for disruption itself. We thank Gary for his time and his generous contribution to the podcast. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Hall is a critical theorist and media philosopher working in the areas of digital culture, politics and technology.
