Theodora Ivanova Nestorova, Soprano Theodora Nestorova Boston Bulgarian-British-American soprano Theodora Ivanova Nestorova was the 2018-2019 Fulbright Study/Research Grant Recipient to Vienna, Austria where she studied in the MA Lied & Oratorium program at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (mdw) and conducted research in voice science. The 2018-2019 first-place winner of the American Prize in Vocal Performance (Art Song College/University Division), Nestorova is currently pursuing her MM in Vocal Pedagogy at the New England Conservatory. Recent operatic credits include Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Noémie (Cendrillon), and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel) [Schlosstheater Schönbrunn], as well as Oberto (Alcina) [Oberlin Opera Theater], and Amore (L’incoronazione di Poppea) [Oberlin in Italy]. An avid early and contemporary musician, Nestorova has recorded world premiere compositions at the Bulgarian National Radio in Sofia and performed in the Balabanov’s House Music Days International Festival in Plovdiv, the 2019 Cultural Capital of Europe, as well as the Wien Modern Festival, the Bang on a Can 30th Anniversary N.Y.C. Concert, and attended Emmanuel Music’s The Bach Institute. Nestorova has also portrayed Arianna (Scarlatti’s L’Arianna), Diane(Bernier’s Diane et Endimion), Mad Bess (Purcell’s Bess of Bedlam) [Oberlin Baroque Ensemble], and was a featured soloist in Mozart's Requiem (St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Brookline), Handel’s Messiah Sing (St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Brookline) & Messiah Sing-Along (Credo Music—Oberlin), and Haydn’s The Creation (Oberlin Mozart Players). Awarded the Ruth Cogan Memorial Scholarship and the Oberlin Alumni Fellowship Grant, Nestorova graduated with a BM (Voice Performance & Musicology) from Oberlin Conservatory in May 2018. Nestorova has been playing piano for 18 years, is a formerly competitive figure skater, and a linguaphile with a passion for traveling.
