Post Mortal by The Broken Cradle published on 2021-09-24T13:13:47Z Post Mortal was inspired by watching my children grow and considering that I would not be in their lives one day. Hopefully that day is very, very far in the future. This album is a reflection of those thoughts and feelings and explores what might come after. But this isn’t a melancholic album--it is a reflection on living in the here and now as well as on themes and beliefs in what comes after. Bardo, for example, is a Buddhist belief in the state of existence between two lives. Interregnum is simply a pause or an interruption in continuity. Point of Creation and Point of Destruction could be taken literally, but they also have significance in our choices--that every decision to leave something behind is a decision to embrace something new. In the end though, this is really a parent recognizing his own impermanence. This is, as always, an album to my children and an expression of my deepest questions and doubts in this world and the world to come.
