We've already raised US $1000.00 for the cause and we give regular updates on donations and other things via Twitter: twitter.com/thesevateem << The Caves is a 16-track album based on an iconic piece of British Sci-Fi television from 1984 featuring a pair of time-travellers, a masked rebel, a powerful businessman and a mysterious substance with the power to extend life or end it. The Sevateem are Christian Erickson and Janey Winterbauer who used to be in Astronaut Wife and are each currently in a bunch of other bands. Yoda is our Buddha, Robocop is our New Testament, D.I.Y. is our M.O. We record and mix electronic music at home and release it on the internet. Christian has been an obsessive fan of a certain British sci-fi television show involving "timey-wimey stuff" since age 13. "The Caves" is an homage to his all-time favorite episode and is presented in the form of a "rock opera" - with various singers taking on the role of different characters in the story. Angela Ducklisky sings the part of Ms. Brown – a human from the United States of America on Earth. Jeremy Messersmith sings the part of The Doctor – a mysterious traveller in time and space. James Diers sings the part of Morgus – a rich and powerful businessman who controls commerce and politics on 5 planets. Mark Mallman sings the part of Chellak – a frustrated military leader fighting a losing battle against an android army. Janey Winterbauer sings the part of Timmin – a meticulous note-taker and administrative assistant to the most powerful man in the world. Ed Ackerson sings the part of Stotz – a notorious mercenary and weapons-dealer. Christian Erickson sings the part of Jek – a masked and deformed rebel, terrorist and android engineer. All proceeds from streaming and sales will benefit Doctors Without Borders. We believe art has value and that artists should be able to profit from their creations – or pay that value forward. We've chosen to do the latter and will be supporting DWB/MSF with this project. No real-world organization comes closer to the heroics of our favorite fictional Doctor – going into unspeakably harsh situations to offer health and hope to people. We will give regular updates about how much we've raised and donated.
