The Lagan The Lagan London London Irish Folk Punk! The Lagan started its life like all the best ideas always do... two friends talkin' sh!te in a pub over several pints of the black stuff. The plan was to create the worlds best 'malfunction' band, who would play rowdy covers at parties of people slightly more drunk than ourselves for the princely fee of a couple pints and a plate of chips. Needless to say, nothing happened for ages. And ages. Until one day, in a minging rehearsal room in Leatherhead, a few brave souls gathered to see what sort of unholy racket they could make. In time, more lost souls climbed aboard the good ship Lagan, all prepared to sacrifice life and liver to create a sound with its collective feet planted firmly in traditonal Irish music, punk rock, ska and a bit of whatever you fancy. We are The Lagan, the world's first malfunction band. We're probably the best band on the stage, and it's probably our round. The Lagan's gigs are packed with smiling, merry, sweat-n-beer-soaked attendees from every demographic. As of June 2011, we have sold out the Spice of Life in Soho; been embraced warmly by the existing London Celtic Punk scene - sharing stages with BibleCode Sundays, Neck, Smokey Bastard, and Bastards On Parade; we were selected by IN-GB to perform in their St Patrick’s Day Parade Battle of the Bands Final; and on St Patrick’s Day 2011, we headlined the infamous indie club night New Slang, a slot usually reserved for signed bands on the cusp of stardom, to a packed crowd of dancing, singing, jigging revelers.
