Cysgod y Dur by The Gentle Good published on 2011-03-11T16:12:42Z This song is about the steel industry where I live in Cardiff. The steelworks is still going not far from my back door and the sound at the start of the recording is the scrap metal being loaded into the furnaces. At the turn of the century steel was a big employer in the area and a local boy, Ernest Willows, became an early pioneer of aviation and was the first person to fly from England to France. He celebrated by flying around the Eiffel tower on New Years Eve 1910. The picture is a sketch of the steelworks in the 1920s as drawn by local artist Daniel Lazenby. Strings arrangements by Seb Goldfinch performed by teh Mavron Quartet and backing vocals from Cate le Bon Genre Folk Comment by bessiex ansbaradigaethus 2013-12-08T22:59:04Z Comment by carlmorris Traeth Sblot! 2012-10-25T12:16:05Z Comment by Wes Martin Now its saying 'shadow of the steel' 2011-10-30T12:07:07Z Comment by Wes Martin ok, just looked up 'Water Voles' 2011-10-30T12:06:21Z Comment by Wes Martin absolutely no idea what is being said, but the music is conveying so much.
