Ben Bartu, Celebration, poetry by TahomaLiterary published on 2020-11-13T23:13:25Z This poem came on the heels of one of the worst seizures I’d experienced in several years, while traveling in England and feeling quite alone. At that time I felt my brain was trying to end me. I needed that same brain to create something which would give me permission to live. The poem is one of a series I’m writing about epilepsy, all named after disco staples (credit is due here to Kool & The Gang for their song “Celebration”). Benjamin Bartu is an epileptic poet and writer studying Human Rights and Political Reconciliation at Columbia SIPA; he can be found on twitter @alampnamedben Genre poetry
