The Danish group, SUNDAYS, has been blending the intimacy and empathy of the singer/songwriter genre with the broad strokes of indie folk since their debut EP in 2017. Both on stage andthrough their releases, SUNDAYS has captivated audiences with a mix of accessibility, tension, and joy in their performance. As a live band, SUNDAYS brings presence and openness to the stage, engaging the audience with an infectious and dynamic delivery of strong, personal songs and catchy melodies. The evident connection between the group members, Marie Linander Henriksen (bass and vocals), Morten Falk Overgaard (drums and vocals), and Magnus Jacobsen (vocals and guitar), stems from their long-standing friendship and mutual love for playing together since they met at Oure Højskole in 2008.
Having performed in Norway, Canada, and Germany, SUNDAYS took the stage at the acclaimed 'Nashville Nights - International Songwriter Festival' in Odense in the fall of 2023. The band played to a full house at Frølageret, featuring songs from their discography, including two albums and the debut EP 'The Day Will Come.' They also introduced new tracks like 'Great Big Sky,' slated for release as a single on March 1, 2024. Throughout the festival, the band could be found in acoustic pop-up formats across the vibrant festival scene, engaging in various jams, showcasing their enthusiasm for playing and their versatile musical style.
'Great Big Sky' and the subsequent single 'Giant Formula' paved the way for the album of the same title. The album reveals a group that understands its tools and musical DNA but isn't afraid to explore the boundaries of what defines the sound of SUNDAYS in 2024. The band has previously collaborated with producer Mads Bjørn, who worked on the intimate 'Wrong Days,' surpassing 1 million streams on Spotify, and the late rock legend Per Frost (GNAGS), who produced the P5 listener favorite 'Colourblind' in 2020. 'Giant Formula' is produced by Asger Techau (Kashmir, The White Album), with whom the band collaborated on the production of their second album 'Inner Coasts,' revealing a dynamic that encompasses even more range, tension, and strong songs.
