All Stops - Stromness Hometown by Stromness Hometown published on 2012-04-26T12:05:49Z Stromness Museum presents 'Stromness Hometown' – an audio journey through the street - the talk of the town! Voices of the past and the present weave an oral history of the town. The entertaining soundscape told by people of Stromness will lead you from the pier head to the cannon beyond the museum. There are eight stops - places where you can sit on a bench, or lean on a wall, and listen to voices from then and now. Or take the walk from your armchair, close your eyes and let the voices carry you along. This was created through a Stromness Museum community project funded by LEADER and Stromness THI. 00:00 Stop 1 - South Pier Ingirid Morrison 2011 • Eric Flett & Ian MacInnes circa 1990 • Tom Wishart & Ernest Marwick 1967 • Walter Leask 2002 • George Sinclair 2011 • Stewart Crichton 2011 • Willie Mackay 2011 Music: Sandy & Ally Windwick ‘Partans in his Creel’ / Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘Orcadia’, ‘Orkneyites’ / Barbara Firth & Adrian Stewart ‘Partans in his Creel’ 09:18 Stop 2 - Pierhead Ernest Marwick 1967 • Tom Wishart 1967 • Ian MacInnes & Eric Flett circa 1990 • Stewart Taylor 2011 • Gerry Meyer 2007 Music: Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘Luca’ / Isla Wallace ‘Dreams of Orkney’ 16:06 Stop 3 - Pier Arts Centre George Mackay Brown reads from ‘Tam’ 1967 • Eric Flett & Ian MacInnes circa 1990 • John Park 2011 • Isla Holloway 2011 • Ernest Marwick & Tom Wishart 1967 • Graham Bevan 2011 • Archie Bevan 2011 • Elizabeth Bevan 2011 Music: Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘Newark Bay’, ‘The Broonie O' Copinsay’ / Isla Wallace ‘Uncle Ian's Reel’ / Sam Spence ‘Flying Home’ 26:07 Stop 4 - Commercial Hotel Eric Flett & Ian MacInnes circa 1990 • Tom Wishart 1967 • Ernest Marwick 1967 • Ella Duncan & Bryce Scott 2011 • Edgar Ramsay 1976 • George Mackay Brown reads from ‘The Death of Peter Esson’ 1966 • Lyndsey Rae 2011 • Jim Robertson 2011 • Eilidh McGacnie 2011 • Grace McGill 2011 Music: Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘For Eric & Gayle’ / Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘Skea Brae’ 35:03 Stop 5 - Graham Place Bunty Mowat 2011 • May Stockan 2011 • Eric Flett & IanMacInnes circa 1990 • Tam McPhail 2011 • Adrian Harray 2011 • Ella Duncan & Bryce Scott 2011 • Edgar Ramsay 1976 • Ros Bryant 2011 Music: Annabella Penny ‘Stromness Harbour’ / Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘Miss Eilidh Shaw’, ‘Thourmires Trendy Treads’ 45:43 Stop 6 - Hellihole Road Eric Flett & Ian MacInnes circa 1990 • Mark Shiner 2011 • Jennifer Wrigley 2011 Music: Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘The Auld Bow’ / Jennifer Wrigley playing John Rae’s Fiddle 52:39 Stop 7 - Stromness Museum DeLille Diament 2011 • Edgar Ramsay 1976 • Ernest Marwick 1976 • Eric Flett & Ian MacInnes circa 1990 • Rosetta Groundwater No Date • Emily Turton 2011 • Willie Tulloch 2011 Music: Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘The Dingeshowe Dancers’ / Mark Shiner ‘Greenland Whale Fishery’ / Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘Orca’ 01:04:09 Stop 8 - The Cannon Edgar Ramsay 1976 • Ernest Marwick 1976 • Willie Tulloch 2011 • Eric Flett & Ian MacInnes circa 1990 • Tom Wishart 1967 • George Sinclair 2011 Music: Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘Magnus' Polska’ / Nic Taylor ‘To Whom It May Concern’ / Halina Romaniszyn ‘Road to Rendall’ / Jennifer & Hazel Wrigley ‘The Deerness Mermaid’, ‘The Watchman's Polka’ / Angus Findlater & Sandy Windwick ‘The Swa O’ The Sea’ NARRATORS: Bea Watson • Jake Watson GUIDE: Erik Park INTERVIEWERS: Mary Duncan • Diana Leslie • Alasdair Flett • Ingirid Morrison • Savannah Taylor • Mark Jenkins EDITOR: Mark Jenkins PROJECT TEAM: Lynn Campbell • Kathleen Ireland • Mark Jenkins • Trustees, Staff and Friends of Stromness Museum CO-ORDINATOR Rebecca Marr Stromness Museum 2012 All rights of the producers and the owners of the works reproduced reserved.
