Story Of Oshun by Stories We Tell

In the Yoruba pantheon the Goddess Oshun oversees fertility, love and healing . Although she made the lands fertile, the male Gods could only focus on her beauty and excluded her from future plans . The story of Oshun teaches us various lessons, but especially reminds us to be aware of our value and what we bring to the table. In this episode we explore our experiences with exclusion and draw parallels between Oshun and NASA mathematicians, Dorothy Vaughn and Katherine Johnson and their plight as African American women during 60s in a predominantly white and male dominated space.
