From the very start Stephen was surrounded by diverse musical influences. His grandparent’s house was filled with the smooth sounds of artists like Nat king Cole,Jim Reeves, Acker Bilk and Glen Campbell and his parent’s home burst with the melodies of Motown. This mix of country artists alongside Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Jonny Mathis was always going to result in a unique direction when Stephen pursued his passion for music and entertainment… Stephen’s exciting career started around 1989 with two friends writing original, critically acclaimed soul songs. His band was called ‘Watch this space’ and if you did, you certainly weren’t disappointed. Influences from Country were strong, and his presence in the studio benefited from this, bringing a unique sound, a rich baritone with a definite Country feel. Able to perform R&B to the delight of the younger generation along with the timeless classics, as well as delivering his own original songs written in his own progressively developing style and direction. Something has been taking shape and the end result is very special indeed. He’s definitely no ‘me too’ artist, Stephen doesn’t do ‘typical’; he rises above the stereotype and delivers at a level any artist would find it hard to match. His mature, highly developed direction on his original recorded material here on SoundCloud, is striking, rich and unique, shunning stereotypes and appealing to a truly diverse and discerning audience.
