Liza Colby Band - Oh Baby (STacked mix for GearfestPuremixContest) by STack Sound published on 2013-04-23T08:49:42Z For this mix my inspiration for the tones was "Epic Concert Sound", basically what I try for at every gig I engineer. Keeping this in mind I tried to keep it sounding natural, but HUGE, and high-energy. I decided to work with, and accentuate the dynamics that the band laid down while recording; starting the first verse a little extra soft and riding the roller-coaster up and down the choruses, gaining energy along the way, until the crescendo at the end (where things get a touch crazy sonically). Techniques: New York style compression on drums, and gently on master Track doubling for: Frequency split to make a HighHat mic from the snare mic bleed Panned echo response on electric guitar Mid/Side de-matrix on overheads with processing pre and post Gear: Homemade Intel PC Reaper (and many of it’s native plugins) Waves (Plugins, RVerb and TrueVerb, Kramer Master Tape on drum bus) URS (1975 Compressor and A series EQ plugins on the bass) Bellari Tube Channel Yamaha HS-80m monitors Genre Classic Rock Comment by Nate Grossman I love how clean your mix is.
