Few contemporary acts represent the depth and continuity of underground dance music quite like Soul of Hex. Formed by brothers Gerardo and Emanuel Cedillo in Tijuana, Mexico, the duo has spent more than a decade refining a sound rooted in house and techno history while remaining unmistakably forward-looking.

Their productions reflect a deep knowledge of Chicago and Detroit traditions, filtered through analog machines, live instrumentation and a strong sense of groove. Jazz phrasing, raw drum programming and warm synth work are recurring elements, giving their tracks a timeless quality that feels equally at home in clubs and listening spaces.

International recognition followed key moments such as Larry Heard’s remix of their track “Lip Reading,” along with appearances at festivals like Dekmantel and releases on influential labels including Freerange, Delusions of Grandeur and Quintessentials. Beyond their main project, the duo also explores heavier terrain under the alias Mano de Fuego for Underground Resistance, highlighting their stylistic range.

With their own imprint Vicario Musique Recordings and a growing catalog of carefully crafted releases, Soul of Hex continue to stand as custodians of underground values, balancing musical curiosity with deep respect for dance music culture.
