Snippet is the work of one man – UK based Indie musician Johnno Casson.
He started out with trip hop pioneers Deep Joy, working with the likes of Andrew Weatherall (Primal Scream), James Lavelle (Mo’ Wax/UNKLE) and Adrian Sherwood (On-U-Sound) and throughout his career Johnno has steadfastly charted his own course, creating a unique catalogue of recordings and performances via the labels Folkwit, Rash & Quirky Sounds whilst avoiding the prototype of the predictable singer-songwriter in favour of something wonderfully wonky and intriguing - knowing the really interesting stuff lays in the margins and borders.
Staggeringly prolific, Johnno releases music under a variety of different names, including his own & Old Tramp in addition to Snippet.
He is a blogger and long time champion of new music for Fresh On The Net,he also is the producer of community arts, music & history project The Warm and Toasty Club.
London reared & Colchester based Snippet has been forging a wonderfully vibrant path for the past 10 years & has released five albums & six EP’s which have attracted a world wide following to this very unique brand of wonky pop music from the leftfield; Bouncy with a dash of folk & a splash of funk.
"the man is hugely talented and I'd warmly recommend for you to nip along to snippetcuts.bandcamp.com where you can hear all kinds of songs from that compilation, go and check it out for yourself"
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
"If you’re unfamiliar then you’re missing a treat. His brand of adult pop is second to none. Songs of depression and the classes, and mentions of Donald Trump and racism are wrapped in some of the most fascinating sugar coated music around."
– Paul Scott-Bates, Louder Than War
"With Future Melancholy Pop Music, Johnno offers an album that is thought-provoking and intimate. Speaking to issues and emotions that we British generally prefer to restrain behind a stiff upper lip, he opens a window upon elements of life and society that, left unaired, harbour pain. This is a brave collection, delivered through compelling vocals and wrapped in accomplished musicianship."
– Flo Bannigan, The Revue
"This is 15 slices of life set to music, the rough with the smooth, warts and all. This is an album that feels fun, an album that can be played from start to finish or just dipped into, one that you can allow to rush over you like the wind or hear to the words being carried in the breeze, the choice is yours, make of it what you will, but one thing you should do is enjoy it. In Future Melancholy Pop Music, Johnno Casson AKA Snippet has created an album well worth listening to".
-Neil King, Fatea

“Touched a nerve,we love it” Rob da Bank BBC Radio 1
“Dry of humour and lo-fi of sound, the skewed pop of Colchester’s Snippet is reminiscent of early Beck.”
"Snippet is without doubt a musical shape shifter of some talent"
Fresh On The Net/Andy Von Pip
“Wow,sounds really great Johnno” Ron Sexsmith
"The sound of the summer...Pop genius...9.5/10"
"Uplifting, quintessentially British pop more in line with The Kinks and XTC"
