Sidi Muhammad al-Jamal ar-Rifa'i ash-Shadhili

Bismillahi-r-rahmani-rahim. Allahumma salli ala sayyidina Muhamaddan, wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim. Sidi Sa'id Muhammad al-Jamal ar-Rifa'i ash-Shadhili (qaddasallahu sirrahu) was a humble servant of Allah, The Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. He walked with humility, adab, and mercy, because he knew Allah's qualities (self-subsistence, glory, knowledge, and wealth) and he knew his own qualities (poor, debased, weak, and ignorant except by Allah). "Sidi," as he was affectionately called by his U.S. students, was widely known throughout the Holy Land as a spiritual guide and a shaykh. He eschewed the dunya and helped those who needed it. Sidi served in every position at the al-Aqsa masjid, alhamdulillah. From the late 1990s-2015 he also journeyed to the U.S. every summer. Traveling throughout the country, he taught groups on Sufism and Islam. May Allah protect Sidi secret always, give his family protection, elevate him, make the Prophet (sallallahu allahu alayhi wa sallam) pleased with him, and give him proximity to Allah's Beautiful Face for eternity.
