Based on stories of real people from the Pacific Northwest, "An American Dream" follows the lives of a Japanese American family forced to leave their home, on an island in Puget Sound, and a Jewish woman from Germany who moves in with her American husband. The two families are unexpectedly bound together by their most precious belongings and the heartbreak of World War II.
