One Year of Suicide Statistics in Japan for Piano * Now on iTunes- Rory Viner by Rory Viner published on 2014-03-11T06:50:23Z Monthly suicide statistics by prefecture, Japan 2013, piano composition by Rory Viner The latest project by experimental sound composer Rory Viner explores the psychotopology of Japan, decontextualizing dry statistics and weaving them into a sonic map that both excises and reifies the temporo-geographical reality of suicide. Each section of twelve notes encompasses a year of self-killings within a prefecture, each monthly number adumbrated in sound, revealing the metastasis of time and space inherent to statistical study. The fragility of the composition enfolds the listener within a narrative of dichotomies: statistics and selfhood, sound and silence, creator and product, the discontinuity of self and the uninterrupted world. Rory Viner is a composer and experimental artist based in Tokyo. His latest album is In Between and Betwixt, out now on iTunes. http://rory-viner.tumblr.com/ Source Data- Japanese Suicides by Prefecture 2013, Japan National Police Agency 平成25年の月別の自殺者数について Genre Experimental Comment by ayuta groovy 2021-06-10T13:57:44Z Comment by I-Am-Will Could you make a version 4x faster? 2014-04-17T19:57:18Z
