Green Line by Rita Tekeyan published on 2021-06-04T21:29:31Z Following her debut album Manifesto Anti-War which was released in June 2015 for Rosa Selvaggia independent label, Lebanese born Armenian origin musician/singer/performer and artist Rita Tekeyan is back with her new album Green Line. Her scream of desperation and anger against war and genocides continues; the war is a theme personally experienced by the artist and her family. Her music is a tribute to the ones who have sacrificed their lives to speak out the truth, to defend their rights, their identity, culture and roots; a tribute to the innocence of children, to the stolen childhood, a tribute to women, mothers and fathers, during the war, they are all heroes every day. It is a tribute to the ones who have fallen; we sit here and watch things happening, the inner conflict, the incapacity to change things. The recent events are an example that things didn’t change, wars still happen, there is destruction everywhere, nature is in rage and evil is within us… Green Line is part of the project which focuses on war stories and details, events which are unknown to lot of people, events that no Radio or TV would talk about, apparently insignificant to a normal eye but huge in the eyes of a child. A music project where whispers and silence are as essential as screams. Pieces of memories are put together in a new order, a new dimension, the music dimension, the words dimension; a reconstruction of space and time through music and words, inspired to Deconstructivism. The project is also inspired to the “Poetics of Space” of French philosopher Gaston Bachelard. The album Green Line is dedicated to Beirut, Tekeyan’s native city; Green Line was that green linear area on Beirut’s map during the civil war, dividing Beirut in East and West, and it was one of the most dangerous and devastated areas of Beirut.
