Red Bull Music Jamhoureya - Hassan Abou Alam by Red Bull Music Academy

This set was recorded at a live concert at Om Kahlthom Hotel, Cairo on November 24th 2017 as part of Red Bull Music 'Jamhoureya' which saw four cutting-edge Egyptian electronic producers collaborate with traditional musicians from four different rural areas of the country.

Hassan Abou Alam is an internationally acclaimed producer on MIDI Life Records known for his dark techno, but has been recently been finding his sound with more noise-based music. Abou Alam selected the ancient Egyptian city of Luxor, where he and his collaborators engaged in musical conversation under primordial cliffs. Having rarely collaborated with other musicians before, Jamhoureya was a huge dive in the deep-end and no one, the musicians included expected the endearing new sound that emerged from Abou Alam's ambient beats and the elongated chorus of the locals' finest vocalists.
