A dormant section of The Grid begins transmitting again after an extended period of silence.

The signal leads to an isolated chamber, illuminated only by a narrow amber field running through its centre. On one side stands a synthetic figure. Beyond the glass, an organic silhouette mirrors its position.
At first, neither moves.
Then one hand rises.
The other follows with absolute precision.
Every gesture is repeated without measurable delay, as though the glass is reflecting something that should not be there. When their palms finally meet against the surface, the chamber registers a sudden convergence in both signals. Separate readings briefly become indistinguishable.

For several seconds, the barrier responds to their contact. Light travels through the glass, the surrounding systems reactivate, and fragments of corrupted data begin appearing across the Archive.
No attempt is made to break through.
The figures simply remain there, connected by a surface neither of them can cross.

When the signal fades, the synthetic figure lowers its hand.
The reflection does not.
Something on the other side is still waiting.
