Coronach (Suesse) for Harp and Orchestra by Peter Mintun published on 2018-11-28T18:47:48Z Robert Barlow, soloist, American Symphony Orch., Cond. Frederick Fennell, 1974. Dana composed a special, personal piece for orchestra and harp, dedicated to the memory of Casper Reardon. Russell Bennett, who was also a friend of Reardon, orchestrated the short work for a radio broadcast on station WOR, New York. The work was titled Coronach, a Gaelic word for "A crying together." Dana attended the broadcast on December 19, 1941. The melancholy composition ends with a poignant, plucked single string on the harp. It was Dana's musical way of saying farewell to a significant friend and colleague.
