THUNDER ISLAND by PC BOYZ published on 2020-12-18T18:08:46Z In February before the entire globe was shook to its iron core by the COVID-19 pandemic, the PC BOYZ, otherwise known to their family, friends and sweethearts as Jezzy, Gerry, Benny and Kev were at the tail end of a nearly sold-out three day engagement during Rick’s Last Resort’s bi-annual Kokomo Nights. It was there in the front row of pastel linen-covered tables that the pastel linen-covered duo of Vince Irizarry & Richard Stamos suggested over several rounds of Monte Carlos that the BOYZ record their exciting version of Jay Ferguson’s classic, THUNDER ISLAND. A genius-level idea no doubt, but it was unthinkable at the time based on the band’s aspiration to take their show on the road via a rather ambitious pontoon tour concept through all 40 miles of Michigan’s Inland Waterway. But cursed Corona had other plans for the BOYZ. After receiving 4 clean bills of health from the group’s virologist, they hunkered down in Benny’s basement, aka Berth Control Recordings, spending the next 9 months perfecting the bombastic behemoth that is their beauteous take on THUNDER ISLAND.
