Ring Around My Rosie by Paul Levinson published on 2011-12-22T01:21:47Z Herb Abramson (of Atlantic Records fame), Paul Levinson, and Ed Fox produced this bubblegum song and sold it to Buddah Records, which released it in 1969. It reached #4 in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA area, and was played on a few stations across the country.David Fox (no relation to Ed) wrote the song.He and his group the Wooley Thumpers (David Fox, Jerry Zolten, Frank Siegel and Pete Schwimmer) recorded it.Levinson came up with the name Protozoa, which Buddah used on the release.(Peter Rosenthal, who put a few of his patented guitar licks on the record, once told Levinson that he had worked for the "Protozoa Squad" - meaning the biology squad - in high school, which gave Levinson the idea for the name.)Levinson wailed a little falsetto near the end of the record. Levinson, Ed Fox, and Rosenthal went on to record Twice Upon a Rhyme (13 song album) released on Levinson's HappySad Records in 1972, re-issued on CD by Beatball Records in 2008 and on re-mastered vinyl by Whiplash/Sound of Salvation Records in 2010.More of Levinson's music here on Soundcloud and http://www.reverbnation.com/paullevinson ...
