Leyla is an Azerbaijani DJ, collector and music producer based in Rotterdam. She has been involved with music long before starting to DJ, working in copywriting, graphic design and curation for record labels (STROOM, Yalanchi), as well as organising events both in Baku and Rotterdam. Her approach to sound lays in diversity, exploring various rhythms, ethnic influences and moods in her selections. At the root of her production efforts is an experimental nature, mixing different genre elements and incorporating vocals, which you can hear in her productions as 1/3 of the Gijdillounge trio and her first feature on Phase Group. She thinks sonic experiences are about taking inspiration from contrasting sounds, comparing and combining to bring the best out of all influences.
